Many people do not understand the difference between religion and having a relationship with Jesus Christ. There has to be a conversion on the inside of you. Man looks at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart. Religion is not a denomination. Some people say, what religion are you?
Religion is not being a Baptist or Catholic or Pentecostal. The biblical definition of religion is found in James 1:27. It says pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
Denominations are man made. God never instituted all these different denominations. God is not the author of confusion. There are too many different doctrines and beliefs. Some religions will take one verse of scripture and make a doctrine out of it. You can't take one verse out of it's context, you have the read the whole chapter. Man made religions are based on trying to get to God through works and traditions of men. They try to get to God through their own efforts. God's way is through his plan of salvation, by believing and receiving his son Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and repenting of your sins. When you receive God's plan of salvation then you become right or in right standing with God and can have an intimate relationship with him. No one is good enough to go to heaven. I used to think if I was good enough or did good deeds for people, then maybe I could enter into heaven.
There is only one who is good and that is God the Father. Some religions think if you join a church and get baptized then you have your ticket to heaven. Many people have been in church for years and never repented of their sins, never received Jesus into their heart. God is the Judge and when you stand before him on the day of judgment, if your name is not written in the Lamb's book of life, God himself will say, depart from me, I never knew you. Salvation is a gift from God. Ephesians 2:8,9 says For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. The biblical definition of religion says to be unspotted from the world. That means no spots or stains, no moral blemish. Jesus is coming back for a glorious church without spot or wrinkle, a holy church. We were made holy when we received God's son, Jesus. God loves you and he wants to have a close, personal and intimate relationship with you. If you never asked Jesus to come into your heart, repeat this prayer with me, say Father, I repent of all my sins, I believe that Jesus is your son and that he died on the cross for my sins. I believe that you raised him from the dead. Jesus, come into my heart and save me, fill me with the Holy Spirit in Jesus name, I pray, Amen. Praise the Lord! Spend time with him, pray, read his word, worship and obey him. Pray and ask God to lead to the right church where you can be taught and grow spiritually. 3John2 says, Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.
